Flore Zoé’s personal admiration of Ansel’s intense, profound, contrasting black and white masterpieces is one of the two inspirational sources for this series. The other was the song ‘Naught Girl’ by Beyoncé.

It is a series in which dark black contrasts with white, dirty yet delicious, the ultimate feeling of pleasure, of wanting to please and be pleasured. The series was shot in the former sauna complex in Scheveningen, the Netherlands.

Flore Zoé “The sauna complex had been empty for years, since 2009, and was managed by an anti-squatting organisation. The walls were dank and filthy, but I did not want that in my images. We had a tough time getting it cleaned up before and on the day of the shoot.”
