Non-Commissioned Art
Non-Commissioned Art created with a unique creative vision.
From 16 April to 21 June 2026, a selection of Flore Zoé’s work spanning over 30 years will be presented in the exhibition SYM-ME-TRY at Paleis Soestdijk.
Working independently of commission, Flore Zoé develops photographic works that originate from a personal and ongoing line of enquiry. Each series emerges from a distinct moment of observation, shaped by a visual language that is both precise and layered.
Her work has been exhibited internationally, including at OPERA Gallery, and is held in private collections worldwide. Across these contexts, the images retain a consistent quality: they do not seek to explain, but to open.
Themes such as beauty, transience, intimacy, and human connection recur throughout her practice. Rather than approaching these subjects directly, Flore Zoé constructs images that invite a slower reading — where meaning unfolds through attention.
Much of her non-commissioned work is rooted in personal history, yet extends beyond the autobiographical. It draws from a wide range of influences and encounters, guided by curiosity and a sustained interest in how we perceive and relate to one another.
Selected series include:
• 現実?GENJITSU? — a series reflecting her fascination with Japanese culture and modes of expression
• Sexual Healing — influenced by the tension between vulnerability and strength, with references to both visual art and music
• The Magnificent Diorama — a collaborative work exploring constructed realities and staged environment
